1. Pravaig Veer EV:
Bengaluru-based EV startup Pravaig Dynamics showcased an electric SUV ‘Veer’ meant for serving the armed forces of the country. It features a 90.9 kWh battery pack which offers a range of 500 km. The battery used in this EV is currently being used by NATO forces. The Veer can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 210 km/hr. The company has sourced top quality airbags from the most experienced supplier in the world for the car.
The vehicle offers all-wheel drive and is built for extreme conditions.
2. Tata Power EV Charging:
Tata Power presented its range of EV charging solutions at the Auto Expo. The Tata Power pavilion provided information about the company’s ‘EZ Charge’ network and its app. The company also educated visitors about its Network Operations Center (NOC) located in Mumbai. This center controls the operation of all Tata Power charging stations across India and has a real-time communication link with all chargers.
The company announced a plan called ‘K2K (Kashmir to Kanyakumari)’ and aims to set up 25,000 EV charging points across India in the next 5 years.
3. MG Motors India's MG4:
MG Motors showcased its electric hatchback ‘MG4’. Internationally, the MG4 is available in two battery pack options: 51 kWh & 64 kWh, which offer ranges of 350 km & 450 km respectively. The car has two display screens inside, one is a 10.25 inch infotainment display and the other is a 7 inch driver information display. The car has 5 star crash safety rating in Europe.
MG India company also presented a plug-in hybrid car (PHEV) named ‘eHS’ at the expo.
4. Lexus Electrified:
Lexus showcased two electric cars at the expo: LF-30 & LF-Z. Both these EVs gets all-wheel drive systems. The LF-30 has an interesting feature inside the cabin. The sunroof in the car has voice & gesture control and displays information on the AR-powered SkyGate screen which helps adjust air temperature, audio, play favorite videos & aids in navigation. It sports a 110 kWh battery which offers a 500 km range. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 200 km/hr. The LF-30 also offers wireless charging! The LF-Z on the other hand hosts a 90 kWh battery pack which offers a range of 600 km. It can sprint from 0-100 km/hr in just 3 seconds and attain a top speed of 200 km/hr. 5. Kia EV9:
Kia India exhibited the EV9 concept electric SUV at the expo. The EV9 will be the company’s flagship electric vehicle globally. The Kia EV9 comes with a 77.4 kWh battery pack and offers a range of over 500 km. The electric SUV is expected to go into production towards the end of 2023.
Kia also announced an investment of Rs 2000 crores in India for EV-related R&D and production.
6. More EV Charging Pavilions: Exicom, Repos Energy and Statiq:
Exicom: Gurugram-based EV charging company ‘Exicom’ introduced a ‘super app’ at the expo with features like smartphone pairing & voice assistance using Amazon Alexa & Google Assistant. The app is based on an advanced technology stack that lets EV users take control including scheduling automatic charging remotely. The company claims that this feature will not only prevent overcharging but also allow users to take advantage of lower electricity rates.
Repos Energy: Ratan Tata-backed ‘Repos Energy’ showcased a ‘bio-EV charger’ called EV-DATUM. This charging system generates power from waste. This is a self-sustaining charger with no dependency on the grid. The EV-DATUM will primarily be used in housing societies, malls, restaurants, etc which generate waste and face challenges with waste disposal.
Statiq: Gurugram-based EV charging company Statiq provided a first-hand experience of its app and EV charging solutions to visitors at its pavilion. The company has initiated a nationwide plan to install 20,000 EV charging stations across the country in FY2023.
