1. ABB acquires stake in Bangalore-based EV charging startup.
Multinational company ABB’s E-mobility division has acquired controlling stake in Bangalore-based startup ‘Numocity’. This marks the first acquisition by a global company in the Indian EV space.
Numocity was founded in 2018 and offers a cloud-based digital platform allowing consumers & fleet operators to use a network of fixed chargers or battery swapping solutions on a ‘pay as you go’ basis. It can also monitor the impact of energy use on the power grid.
ABB will increase its shareholding to a controlling majority of 72% for an undisclosed sum. It will have the right to become the sole owner by 2026. It had already invested in the startup as part of its seed funding in 2019.
2. Magenta to hire 340 employees.
Magenta is looking to hire more than 340 employees in 2022. The announcement coincides with the company expanding its geographical presence with new offices in Bangalore, Hyderabad & Delhi-NCR.
Alongside technical fields, the company will hire talent in HR, Finance, Marketing & Communications.
Magenta is looking to hire under three business verticals: EV fleet, charging stations and components.
The Magenta talent acquisition team is planning to participate in campus & off-campus drives across Tier 1 & 2 institutes.
3. Gurgaon-based MoEVing’s plans for multi-modal EV charging.
Gurgaon-based MoEVing is a full-stack electric mobility company which has operations in 14 cities across 9 states.
The company recently inaugurated its first multi-modal electric vehicle charging hub in Yeshwanthpur, a suburb in Bangalore. The company has outlined plans to build several more multi-modal charging stations across India to ensure seamless fleet operations. Its latest outlet in Bangalore is spread across 12,000 sqft and offers high volume charging points, DC fast charging, slow charging, battery swapping stations, EV maintenance stations, all under one roof.
Explaining the advantages of multi-modal charging space, the company said, “Different vehicles require different charging solutions. We need to offer a solution that will cater to a gamut of e-commerce companies and FMCG companies. That is why it is necessary to have it all under one roof.”
4. Adani-Total installs EV charging station at Ahmedabad Airport.
A new EV charging station was installed by Adani-Total at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The EV charging station has been set up near the entry/exit of the domestic terminal of the airport. The charging station has 2 charging points with 2 guns each. One is CCS2 (60kW) and the other is GBT (40kW).

5. Navi Mumbai’s 1st EV charging station installed in Nerul, trials begin.
The first EV charging station commissioned by Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will be available for public EV charging soon. At present, the trial of the charging station is underway. The appointed contractor ‘Power Grid Corporation of India’ is doing the necessary testing.
The charging station is located near the ‘Jewel of Navi Mumbai Garden’ in Nerul.
In the beginning, there will be two charging units at the station. Four more units will be added soon.
As far as pricing is concerned, there will be different slabs for different timings, including concessional rates for off-peak hours.
The Navi Mumbai civic body has decided to set up charging stations at 20 places. Two of them have already been set up, however, operations have not started there yet.
