UP announces new EV policy

The UP government announced new electric vehicle manufacturing and mobility policy 2022.Policy gives benefits to customers for purchasing EV, to service providers for providing charging facilities, to manufacturers who make batteries and other components.The main aim of this policy is to encourage eco friendly transportation system in the state and to generate employment opportunities for peoples.

Some important points of policy:

 -The policy provides attractive subsidies to buyers. This includes 100 per cent road tax and registration fees exemption during the first three years of the effective period of the policy on all segments of electric vehicles purchased and registered in Uttar Pradesh.

-Policy provides stamp duty reimbursement to the manufacturers.

-The policy provides a capital subsidy to service providers developing charging and battery swapping facilities across the State.

-State government shall also facilitate land to service providers for setting up public charging infrastructure by providing government land on lease for 10 years at a nominal revenue sharing model of Re 1 / kWh.

Customers will have to wait for simple ONE

Electric two-wheeler maker Simple Energy has postponed the delivery of its maiden e-scooter to the March quarter of 2023.

Reason for this delay is recent battery safety guidelines issued by the Ministry of Highways and Road Transport. The e-scooter will comply and adhere to the new standards.

Simple energy has headquarters in Bangalore; the startup launched Simple One on August 15 last year.

 The company has its manufacturing facility at Shoolagiri (Hosur) with capacity to produce 1-million vehicles per annum.

Simple One comes with a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a maximum claimed range of 236 km, and 203 km in eco mode. The 4G-enabled scooter has a top speed of 105 km per hour and will have four riding modes -- eco, ride, dash and sonic, which can be accessed through a 7-inch touchscreen panel.

Sony and honda motors aiming to deliver its first EV by 2026

Sony grp corp and Honda motors joint venture aiming to deliver its first electric vehicles by 2026 and will sell them online, starting in the United States and Japan.

Sony will provide the software system for the new car, from the onboard controllers to cloud-based services that will connect with entertainment and payment systems.Honda will decide on the platform that the new vehicle will use and details like the battery supplier. EV will likely be manufactured by Honda at one of its plants in Ohio.The new EV will be delivered to the Japanese market in the second half of 2026.

Toyota's pilot project on flex fuel-strong hybrid electric vehicle (FFV-SHEV) launched

Union minister Nitin Gadkari launched Japanese car maker Toyota's first-of-its-kind pilot project on flex fuel-strong hybrid electric vehicle (FFV-SHEV) that can run on 100% ethanol.

At this event Union Road Transport minister Nitin Gadkari said pollution is a big concern in India and the transport sector is contributing to pollution."Therefore, there is a need to encourage use of electric vehicles and vehicles that run on biofuels like ethanol and methanol," he added.

 An FFVSHEV has a flex-fuel engine and an electric powertrain, thus providing dual benefit of ethanol use and as it can run for a significant time period on its EV mode, wherein the engine is shut off.

 BYD will launch its first passenger car in India

Warren Buffet-backed Chinese electric carmaker BYD will launch its first passenger car Atto3 in India. Atto3 is an electric sport-utility vehicle (SUV).

BYD already sells electric buses and electric vehicles (EVs) for corporate fleets in India.

BYD has capacity to produce 10,000 units a year at its southern India plant where it will assemble the Atto 3.
