Delhi, the capital of India, is not only the capital of the country but also because of its beauty, it is called the heart of India. The length of the metro railway here is 190 km. Delhi Government is taking several steps to promote the usage of clean transport in the capital and has already drafted an EV policy to boost the adoption of EVs. 

Delhi plans to install 1400 EV charging stations and 50 public charging stations across the city

Tata Power Delhi Power Distribution Co., Ltd. (TPDDL) has installed more than 1400 electric vehicle charging ports in Delhi. The company soon announced it would add public EV charging stations to its schedule. TPDDL is a joint venture between the Government of Delhi and Tata Power, which has charging stations in specific areas of Delhi. Electric vehicle stations are used to charge electric vehicles in all segments of the market, including two- and three-wheel vehicles. Tata Power Delhi Distribution Company will partner with organizations in North Delhi to submit 50 public EV charging stations in the coming months. Tata Power Delhi Distribution Company is committed to building charging infrastructure for public and private electric vehicles in the metropolis. The group also rents land to build a charging station or a battery exchange station. In the land lease model, two battery replacement stations were installed on the TPDDL Azadpur and Rohini RG-3 networks in conjunction with Sun Mobility. The company is also considering an OPEX model, in which carriers will rent out electric vehicles to private owners. This helps the company build, operate and maintain the charger, and rent is paid to the landlord based on actual expenses.

It is a DC-001 type of charger spread across 62 major spots of the capital city. EESL installed charging stations with the help of multiple stakeholders across Delhi in SDMC and NDMC Delhi. The very first public charging spot was built on July 20, 2020, at the Chelmsford Club in New Delhi. Charging Plaza can charge 14 electric vehicles simultaneously.

These chargers are equipped with Ethernet, Wifi, and Bluetooth connectivity.

4. Ather Grid Charging Station

Ather Chargers are fast DC chargers that charge your EV up to 80% at a speed of 1.5 km/min. It has an automatic identity verification function, which recognizes your vehicle and starts charging your vehicle once connected to Ather chargers automatically. It also provides remote monitoring functionality wherever you are, you can track the charge status through the Ather app. Electric vehicles that can charge with 5A chargers can be easily charged with these chargers. EV Charging Station - NEED OF THE HOUR

By 2040, the electric vehicle market is predicted to overtake that of internal combustion engine (ICE) automobiles which is why building a charging infrastructure is the need of the hour.

While the government and other bodies are taking initiatives for road electrification, we should not overlook the electrification of housing societies because not everyone can charge their EVs at home.

The Government of NCT of Delhi announced the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy on August 7, 2020, with a vision to promote the adoption of electric vehicles in the city and to make Delhi, the EV Capital of India. The Policy aims to achieve the overarching objective to improve Delhi's air quality and create an entire supply-chain ecosystem for this new segment of vehicles.
