Electric cars in winter

Driving electric in winter is therefore not without consequences, even if most of the worries encountered today will probably be erased by the technology of tomorrow. In the meantime, here are a few things to keep in mind when making your choice:

  • It is better to plug in your car when the battery is already hot, after driving, so as not to limit the power admitted by the onboard charger too much.
  • Heating is one of the most energy-intensive pieces of equipment. If possible, program the interior heating of your car when it is connected to the network, which can also be done remotely via a smartphone application.
  • If a heat pump is available on your model, we strongly recommend that you check the option. This allows better energy management and will save valuable kilometres in winter.
  • Using the seats and the heated steering wheel will often be much less restrictive on the battery than putting on heating for the duration of a trip.
  • If you are driving alone or in pairs, turn off the heating and rear-seat vents to save even more heating.
