This year with the increasing popularity of EVs, each participant has at least one concept or production electric vehicle.
Some EV manufacturers and makers like BYD India, Log9 Materials, Okinawa Motors Technology, ELMoto, Hero Electric, Torque Motors, and all other EV startups presented at the event. Top EVs we have seen in Auto Expo 2023
Hyundai Ioniq 5
In India, the new Hyundai Ionic 5 has been introduced with a single motor and powertrain configuration.
At this price, the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 seems like a cheaper alternative to the Kia EV6 which uses the e-GMP platform. Unlike the Kia EV6 launched in India on the CBU route, Hyundai Ioniq 5 opted for the cheaper CKD route.
Hyundai has not revealed powertrain details as of now, but it is expected to have a 72.6 kWh battery. According to the company, it offers an ARAI-certified range of 631 km in a complete charge. The Ioniq 5 is offered with rear-wheel drive as well as all-wheel-drive drivetrains and a 217 hp electric motor. It offers a torque of 350 Nm. The Ioniq 5 also supports 800V fast charging, allowing you to charge your battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
The retro look of the Ioniq 5 features sharp lines, flat surfaces, and off-road styling, but with a sloping windshield. The headlights and taillights look gritty, and the 20-inch aero-refined aluminum wheels have a turbo-like design. Hyundai offers the Ioniq 5 in three colors: Midnight Black Pearl, Gravity Gold Matte, and Optic White.
The interior of the Ioniq 5 is characterized by a minimalist style with a flat flooring style, comfortable seats, and a removable center console. Hyundai uses environmentally friendly materials in the interior, including fabrics made from recycled plastic and eco-leather. The company also uses biobased paint for shrimp cushions, switches, brakes, and door trim.
The Ioniq 5 combines a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with a front display with augmented reality and ADAS. It also has a 3.6 kW output which makes the vehicle capable of powering devices such as laptops and mobile phones. Available through two portals. One under the back seat and one outside next to the charging port.
Seal
This Auto Expo witnesses the presence of top EV companies globally. Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD (Build Your Dreams) marked its debut with E6 MPV and Atto 3 SUV in the Indian passenger car market. The company also reveal the feature of its premium sedan and announced that it will be available to buy in the Indian market by the end of this year. The interior features a multi-level instrument panel with a large 15.5-inch rotating touchscreen.
Seal comes in two battery choices of 61.1 kWh and 82.5 kWh. In the Chinese passenger car test cycle, it has covered up to 700 kilometers. Pre-orders for the EV sedan will begin around September of this year and are expected to cost around Rs. 70 lakhs. BYD also released a limited edition of the passenger car Atto 3 EV SUV painted green at the price of Rs.34.50 lakh in the Indian Market.
Tiago EV, Tata Curvv and Tata Sierra
One of the most anticipated electric versions of the Tata, the Tata Tiago EV Blitz is a sports version of the regular Tiago EV, which will go on sale by the end of this year or starting of next year. The company is yet to reveal more details about the Tiago EV blitz, but the Blitz is getting external updates to bolster its sporty look. Major changes include the removal of the bluish color found in other Tata EV products like Nexon EV. We can expect a black finish under the headlights and a closed grille. There are also jet-black alloy graphics and a blue bolt next to the EV decal on the grille, front doors, and tailgate.
First announced as an electric vehicle concept, the Tata Curvv is expected to hit the market in ICE guise in 2024. This design has a lot of attractive features and seems to be the start of a new design in the EV segment of Tata. We can also expect the Sierra ICE version will be introduced first. If you're looking for something a little more retro, the Tata Sierra is the way to go. The rear glass shell has a smooth finish but doesn't wrap around like the original, and the strong B-pillar stands upright. In the designs of the Interior, the fabric takes precedence over leather and plastic, a more clean and detailed design and the soundbar takes center stage.
