All about the new Hyundai Ioniq 5: Price, Features, Launch, and more
Hyundai is all set to showcase its new Ioniq 5 electric car ahead of its launch in India at Auto Expo held at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida in January 2023. The Korean automaker also started accepting orders for the new model at one lakh rupees from December onwards. In India, the new Hyundai Ionic 5 has been introduced with a single motor and powertrain configuration.
At this price, the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 seems like a cheaper alternative to the Kia EV6 which uses the e-GMP platform. Unlike the Kia EV6 launched in India on the CBU route, Hyundai Ioniq 5 opted for the cheaper CKD route.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 performance
Hyundai has not revealed powertrain details as of now, but it is expected to have a 72.6 kWh battery. According to the company, it offers an ARAI-certified range of 631 km in a complete charge. The Ioniq 5 is offered with rear-wheel drive as well as all-wheel-drive drivetrains and a 217 hp electric motor. It offers a torque of 350 Nm. The Ioniq 5 also supports 800V fast charging, allowing you to charge your battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 Designs
The Ioniq 5 debuted as the Concept 45 EV at the Frankfurt Motor Show held in 2019. The final production model goes hand in hand with the Concept's retro-futuristic design language. Winner of World Car of the Year, World Design of the Year, and Electric Vehicle of the Year 2022, the retro look of the Ioniq 5 features sharp lines, flat surfaces, and off-road styling, but with a sloping windshield. The headlights and taillights look gritty, and the 20-inch aero-refined aluminum wheels have a turbo-like design. Hyundai offers the Ioniq 5 in three colors: Midnight Black Pearl, Gravity Gold Matte, and Optic White.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 Features
The interior of the Ioniq 5 is characterized by a minimalist style with a flat flooring style, comfortable seats, and a removable center console. Hyundai uses environmentally friendly materials in the interior, including fabrics made from recycled plastic and eco-leather. The company also uses biobased paint for shrimp cushions, switches, brakes, and door trim.
The Ioniq 5 combines a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with a front display with augmented reality and ADAS. It also has a 3.6 kW output which makes the vehicle capable of powering devices such as laptops and mobile phones. Available through two portals. One under the back seat and one outside next to the charging port.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 Price
The Ioniq 5 has an upper hand when compares to Kia EV6 in terms of manufacturing. Hyundai will be completely constructed in India, while the Kia EV6 fully imported into the country. Hence, it will come at more lesser price than the Kia which is around Rs. 60 lakhs, with Hyundai offering Ioniq 6 for Rs. 50 lakhs only. The price difference is due to the difference in the fully assembled vehicle (CBU) and full demonstration (CKD) rates in India.
